South Africa – I get to go home and see my parents and some old friends. Although my parents live just outside of Johannesburg, Cape Town will always have a place in my heart. I married the love of my life on a lovely wine farm in Stellenbosch. What is not to love about the Cape, Sea, Sand, Winelands and wildlife including shark cage diving!
In my own way, I have always been into event management. Be it from High School, where I used to organize the end of year dinner events, to end of degree dinner events. In my professional career, I have often been involved in organizing training events and used these skills to transfer across to event management.
Setting up Boutique Shows has been a great journey. It has been such a delight in bringing these shows to the public and providing a space where small and local businesses can come together. There have been some exhilarating moments in year one, working with Emma’s Diary, and Direct2Mum. Each show is so different you never know what you are going to experience. My favourite part of the show; there are so many, I love meeting all the parents coming through the doors, and the exhibitors. The exhibition day is also great exercise with averaging 11’000 steps a day, according to my Fitbit! It’s great fun, but also a lot of work, before the day, and on the day. The best part for me is hearing how much the parents enjoyed the day.
In looking to the future, I am so excited to see what the future holds for Boutique Shows. I have a dream where we have shows across the country as we grow. I really do believe this is a fantastic business and exactly what our communities need.
